Station 51
Faithful and Fearless
The West Chester
Fire Department is made up of three fire companies, The
First West Chester Fire Company,
Good Will Fire Company,
and
Fame Fire Company.
First West Chester Fire Company is the oldest of the three
with over 200 years of service. The fire company is located
at 70 South Bradford Avenue just outside of West Chester in
East Bradford Township and serves over 60,000 residents in
West Chester Borough, East Bradford Township, West Goshen
Township, Birmingham Township, Thornbury Township and
Westtown Township. First West Chester also gives mutual aid
to Longwood Fire Company, Downingtown Fire Companies, West
Bradford Fire Company, West Whiteland Fire Company, Goshen
Fire Companies, and Concordville Fire Company located in
Delaware County. Station 51 has five pieces of apparatus in
service and a great crew of members. The First West Chester
Fire Company is always seeking for new members to be
firefighters, to help with the maintenance of the building
and the grounds, fund raising and much much more.

The West Chester Fire Department is currently
looking for dedicated members to join the West
Chester Fire Police.

The First West Chester
Fire Company is available for birthday
parties. We can arrange to stop by your
house with the fire truck and do some
demonstrations or we could host your
birthday party in our engine room next to
the fire trucks.

Department Christens New Burn Building
Thursday, July 4, 2008: Wessies Show Pride in
Washington D.C. Parade

On July 4th, 2008 Members and
their families began congregating at the
firehouse for a light breakfast before
boarding the bus to head down to
Washington D.C. to march in the annual
National Independence Day Parade. The
parade route travels along Constitution
Avenue, from 7th to 17th
street, where thousands of parade
spectators line the sidewalks cheering
on each participant. There are groups
that travel from all over the county to
be a part of this patriotic celebration
of America’s birthday.

On Saturday, April 5,
them members of Station 51 preformed a
controlled burn to remote re-growth at the
Quarry Swim Club in Westtown Twp. Crews also
used this burn as an opportunity to practice
their wild land firefighting skills since
training for these types of fires is difficult
to have due to their nature. Special thanks to
Lt. Pelna for setting up the detail.

Wednesday, April 2 : Mini Brush Fire Training
On this afternoon, the members of station 51
took part in a mini wild land fire training
class. Utilizing the firehouse grounds, they
practiced cutting line and extinguishing wild
land fires. Special thanks to Lt Pelna for
setting up the class.
