Saturday, March 22, 2008:Long Time Member
Passes
The First West Chester Fire Company regrets to
announce the passing of long time member Pat
Morley. Pat passed away in his home in the
borough Friday night. He was currently on
the auditing committee for the fire company and
has held the position for many years. A
viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6:00
to 9:00PM at Dellavechia Funeral Home, a viewing
from 8:30 to 9:30 AM with the funeral services
following on Friday at Saint Agnes Church
in West Chester.
Sunday, March 2, 2008: A Busy Day for the new
Engine 51-1
The members of Station 51 and Engine 51-1
started their day early with a some training at
the West Chester University South Campus Parking
Lot. Engine 51-1 was pumped at capacity flowing
it's 2 deck guns and the Snozzle for a total of
2800 GPM. As the day went on the crew
flowed some CAFS into the woods and had some
Snozzle operations. Around 13:00
operations ended and Engine 51-1 returned to the
station. Just as the crew was finishing up
getting Engine 51-1 ready for service and was
awaiting the county to put the Engine in
service, Station 51 was dispatched to a building

Friday, February 22: Snowy Morning Truck Fire
Just before 0630 on this snowy Friday morning,
Station 51 was dispatched for a truck fire at
Gay and Wayne Streets in the Boro. West
Chester Police arrived on scene and reported a
truck on Wayne St. fully involved. Asst.
51 (Ronayne) arrived moments later, confirming
the report. Engine 51-2 arrived on scene,
deployed the front bumper line, and made quick
work of the fire. Engine 51-1 provided
additional manpower. Crews cleared in just
under 45 minutes.

Saturday, February 9: 51-2 First Arriving on
Friday Morning Fire
At 0822 hours, on Friday February 8, Stations
51, 53, and 55 Ambulance were dispatched to a
dwelling fire 605 W. Gay Street in the Borough.
Engine 51-2 made the response within 2 minutes
and upon exiting the firehouse driveway,
encountered a heavy burning odor in the area.
Seconds later, Engine 51-2 made the turn onto
Gay Street and saw heavy smoke coming from the
second floor of a 3 story single family
dwelling. Captain 51 (Joblin) quickly
upgraded the assignment and asked for the
“Working Fire Dispatch” adding Station 52 for
the RIT and Medic 91.

Thursday, January 31: Years Of Service Dinner
On Sunday, January 27, members of Station 51
were recognized for their years of service to
the company. Members young and old enjoyed
great food and presentations from the company.

got some hands-on training with the new Engine
